The children enjoyed baking Australian damper bread this week. It is a very simple recipe made with only self raising flour, salt, butter and milk. It tasted fabulous with butter and jam, honey or syrup on it.
The children have had a fun role play area this week. They have enjoyed being chefs, waiters and waitresses and customers in the restaurant. We have also enjoyed making dragon puppets and Chinese lanterns.
As part of our health and self care we have discussed healthy eating and linked it to our Chinese cooking. The children filled their pastry with chicken, bean sprouts, sweet corn, peppers, mushrooms and soy sauce.
The children had a special snack time today. They enjoyed pancakes with lemon and sugar. They watched the story ‘The runaway pancake’ while they ate their snack. We then talked about why we have pancake day and our favourite fillings.
This morning our children went to Brazil to join in the famous Rio Carnivàl. The children saw and tried dancing and drumming. A video will follow soon but here are some of our Carnivàl Queens and Kings!
